One of our charity partners, Depaul International (which is inspired by the life and values of Saint Vincent Depaul), is also hosting an event at the House of Lords on Thursday 10th October from 3:30pm – 5pm and has extended an invitation to members of the Christian Funders Forum to join them. The purpose of the event is to shine a spotlight on homelessness as a global issue and mark 35 years of Depaul as they work to end homelessness around the world.
The UK’s former homelessness tsar and Depaul International Ambassador Louise Casey, The Baroness Casey of Blackstock DBE CB, is the keynote and will be discussing why homelessness is a global issue requiring a global response, and how trends such as climate change and conflict are intensifying a human tragedy that already affects 1 in 5 people on the planet. For those of you with an interest in homelessness (or indeed poverty, criminal justice, addiction, or its many other intersections), and particularly those who also fund internationally, it should be an interesting and thought-provoking event.
If you would like to attend, or for more information, please contact justine.trumper@depaulinternational.org.
[Depending on what volunteering role you are playing at the showcase event I appreciate you may not be able to attend.]
