The Henry Smith Charity aims to bring about lasting change to people’s lives, helping them to benefit from and contribute to society. The Charity was established through the terms of Henry Smith's Will, in 1628. The Christian Projects Grant Programme is one of the Charity's smaller grant-making programmes, with an annual budget of c£500,000 supporting churches/Christian charities in the UK. As at 2020 there are three priority areas:
1. meeting the spiritual needs of older people, including those with dementia
2. reaching out to the unchurched - especially young people and young families – by nurturing their spiritual interest and well-being
3. projects which support and care for Anglican clergy at times of acute need
We also have a Clergy Individual programme which supports CoE parochial clergy through budgets allocated via Diocesan bishops.
